chocolate butt

setting the scene...
it's monday night.
billy had hockey and got home around 9:00.
neither of us felt like cooking so we threw in a frozen pizza.
we both poured ourselves an adult beverage.
then hopped up on the counters to chat.
18 minutes later the timer goes off.
the pizza was not done.
the cheese was hardly melted.
we left the pizza in the oven cook longer.
10 minutes later i open the oven and it barely seems warm.
i turn the temp up and it starts getting hotter right away.
the pizza cooks another 10 minutes.
finally, after 45 minutes of cooking the darn thing is done.
(note to self, call to get oven checked out)
we sit down to enjoy our gourmet meal.
i eat one piece of pizza.
then i notice gus is not anywhere to be seen giving us the "please feed me" eyes.

this could mean one of two things.
he is sleeping on the couch (not likely).
OR he is laying somewhere with poop stuck on his bum.
i go looking for him and find him at the top of the stairs.
he has watery eyes and looks sad.
darn it...
he has a poopy butt!

poor gus, his hair grows so quick that this tends to happen right before he is due for a haircut. (which is scheduled for this coming monday)
i pick him up, bring him to the bathtub and start spraying.
billy comes up and is all EW, it smells SO gross in here.
asking - does gus have a chocolate butt?!
he then says, how about you go eat your dinner and i'll finish bathing gus.
um, yeah i'm not going to be eating the rest of my pizza.
the smell and the sight of crap stuck on his booty has made my appetite go away.
i let him take over with the scrubbing of gussy's bum though.

i cleaned up our dinner dishes and put the leftover pizza away.
then i got to enjoy the show gus puts on once he is out of the bathtub.
he acts as if bath water puts crack in his system.
he goes insane.
tearing through the house.rubbing his face on the carpet.
rolling in circles on the towel.digging up the blankets on the bed.
his heart was going a million miles an hour.he finally laid down on his big pillow, under a blanket and crashed.
billy decided to put some of his manly smelling shower gel on gus so now gus and him smell the same. if only there was something to do about gus' death breath! ;)

  12. BWAH!!! my pup bodie does the same thing after a bath. it's hilarious! he'll roll around and rub against everything but the best is when he rubs against the couch, we'll see the couch pillows pop up one at a time as he rubs across the bottom.

    dogs are the best.

    ps. chocolate butt...LOL!

  13. Ahhh, my pup does the exact same thing with water. Its hysterical. He's a few pounds heavier so when he rolls around in the best, he kind of pushes me off, but its so cute nonetheless.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh no! Poor puppy! At least you came out with a funny story ;)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Haha happens to my puppy too, unfortunately. Although, the after bath craziness can be settled down by blow drying (I do it on low, cool) til they're almost dry and then the craziness doesn't last as long. lol. All dogs must be against having wet fur cuz both of mine go NUTS after baths if they're not blow dried.

  35. Poor gus :(.....He must be embarassed!

Wonder what is up withthe oven?!? Ours quit working last week...I convinced myself that we needed a new one...I tried one more time for good measure, and it has now been working fine ever since?!? WHO KNOWS! I will put off buying one until it is a MUST!

  40. Haha...a TOOTSIE ROLL :)-
This story reminds me of the game you play at a baby shower...where you melt the chocolate in the diapers and have to sniff them to figure out which is what. GROSS!!!

I'd definitely be done eating my food after that. What a story to share...made me laugh!!!
    Have a wonderful day hun.

I don't give her haircuts cuz it always seems short anyways but we definitely have to give her butt trims every 2 weeks or so to prevent this kinda drama lol

She goes just as crazy after baths ... especially if I try to blow dry her after ... I'm telling you, there's something in the water lol

  57. chocolate butt is sure a nice way of putting it! ugh. i have a cat that has major crap issues. it is disgusting. SIGH.

  58. Poor Gus. He didn't want to have poopy butt either. Baxley does the same thing when he gets a bath at home. He rubs his face all over everything!!! That's why frequent trips to the groomers are a must. :) XOXO

  65. Too cute and so funny! When my dogs have a "hanger" they freeze and won't move till someone picks it out..........SO GROSS!!!

The vet told us that the bad breath was due to bad teeth. I know this sounds ridiculous, but getting their teeth cleaned by the vet solves that problem.

    ReplyDelete
  66. How cute is he?!?!? Adorable... definitely a good way to lose your appetite though =)

    ReplyDelete
  67. poor gus!! i think bath's make dogs a little nutso! mine all go crazy too!

  68. Our Murphy a Shizu/Bichon always has this problem. Even right after a grooming, if we give him something different like a new treat (Little ceasars/cheese) he gets poo stuck in his bum and all around his little hind end. He usually hides under the china cabinet but sometimes will come to me and cry until I notice. Greg (husband) is the bum washer. A sprayer attachment and baby shampoo and he is a happy guy! So much for the pet store lady who says we should "change up" his diet all the time so he doesn't get stuck on one food! SHE doesn't have to come and clean his BUTT!! Ha!
