welcome to the family....

No, not Cullen ;)
I wish!

It is not new news that gas prices are out of control these days.
They are affecting everyone, including our family.
We had to make a tough decision and get rid of our SUV.
Billy goes through so much gas!!
Although I have no idea what he does during the day or where he all drives to.
For all I know he is a clown and makes balloon animals for children as a day gig.
His work is mostly all in the evening/night, he coaches/skill trains kids for hockey.

I, on the other hand, hardly go through a tank a month!
I ride the bus to work and my Dad picks me up from work.
Target is a mile down the road, my parents house is 2 miles down the road.
I don't venture out much further than that these days.

Without further ado, I introduce you to Billy's new (to us) car.
It's a Lexus IS250.
It's one cute little sporty car and Billy really likes it.
The mpg is obviously much better than the suv.
The major downside is the trunk.
It's just going to be interesting to see how B totes around all his hockey stuff in there.

Baby Cullen's car seat fits just fine in the car behind the passenger seat.
I've heard/seen on many blogs lately that cars just don't work for babies.
There are millions of people with babies/kids who have cars.
I'm sure we'll make due just fine :)

The Saab 97X will be greatly missed....
bye bye

stock photos taken from bing images.
although both of the vehicles are identical to the ones we have/had.

  2. I am so jealous. Lexus is my favourite type of car, and I hope one day I'll have one! Certainly not a cheap car...

  3. Love the new car!!

I think most carseats fit in cars, it's just all the other baby junk that might not fit!! However, I know the SUV route is still a ways off for us. We'll be shoving BG and her junk in the car for a few more years!

  4. Nice car!
Heck if I needed to downgrade, I'd go with a Lexus too.

  5. I'd be lying if I said my heart didn't skip a beat when I saw this post title! It's no baby, but still exciting news!!

And for what it's worth...we have TWO SUVs and still have a hard time getting a car seat in the back because they're both on the smaller end of the SUV spectrum. I'm sure you'll manage just fine without it!

  7. When I had the twins, we had a Ford Fusion- both babies fit just fine, and their stroller fit in the trunk (it was a big ass stroller!). We have 3 kids though- we had to take two cars everywhere until I got my SUV. But yeah, 2 sedans with 1 and even 2 babies is plenty!

  14. Ohhhh! That is a gorgeous car! I drove a 2 door car until Autumn was at least 7 months and we still had plenty of room. It was a pain getting her in there but more than enough room!

  19. Super cute car!!! I had a car for up until February with my son and it worked just fine for us. We had to switch since we are going from 1 to 3 kids which stinks now that gas prices are way up. At least I don't do much driving these days, nor will I be doing much in the next few months.

  20. You're not alone! We're thinking of getting rid of my precious Tahoe and going to an Accord! I luvvvvvvv my Tahoe! So, we'll see what happens!

  21. Love the new ride! We fit 3 kids in a ford focus, it can be done :) We did however suck it up and buy an SUV as well

  22. Ah, I JUST got rid of that exact car... You won't notice it until Cullen is sitting in the car but the way the seat slants in the back makes the car seat not sit properly and baby's head will slump forward. I did everything I could to alter it - but it didn't work. =\ I also had a tough time fitting the stroller in the trunk. I LOVED that car though, it was my baby.

  23. I love it!! My boyfriend has been eyeballing the very same car! He drives a Denali right now. And at about $100 per week, it's a gas drinking machine!

  24. I have a white IS250 and LOVVVE IT!!

  25. I just switched from a huge SUV to my small sedan. I do have to keep the passenger seat up quite far in order for me to click the car seat handle that releases it from the base, but not a big deal. Andrew cant really fit in the passenger seat with the car seat, but thats fine, because I let him drive anyway when he is with us :) Saving gas money is WAY better than having lots of room- in my opinion! You are lucky you dont have to drive to work and that you guys can have one car between you!! Ugh- we have 3 cars right now- trying to sell one, and its so annoying.

  26. Oh that's great! Now you'll be able to bank some more money from the gas.

  27. we have a nissan Altima and it works just fine with a baby.. I have found that putting the carseat in the middle works best (FOR US) becuase we have a baby mirror in the back so I can see her while Im driving

  28. Congrats on the new car, it is super sporty and sleek looking!!!

  29. Oh, Lexus is great!! My mom has had a few and she never ran into a problem with them (minus blowing a speaker, but that was her own fault). We've actually been looking at some for Liam so let me know your feedback:)
