what would scooby do?

i have caller ID at work and therefore rarely answer my phone. yeah, i screen phone calls just like the rest of you ;) if it's a client and they need something urgently they can have me paged or leave a message and i'll have someone else get back to them....i'm not a talk on the phone kinda person.

my phone rings today and i recognize the number but not sure whose # it is...

me: this is annie
sister: giggles, it's me, you don't recognize my #?
me: not since you had it changed a few months ago
sister: well you should know my # by heart! next time i call i'm not telling you it's me
me: i know your voice! your normal voice and all your silly voices....i am your sister
sister: yeah i suppose....so are you at work?
me: ha! you called my work phone obviously i'm at work
sister: yeah i guess i know you are at work but what are you doing? i know you don't actually work while you are there....i don't know if you are playing on facebook or whatever it is that you do.
me: no FB for me, i'm over it....i only use it on my phone and btw i DO TO work, sometimes....otherwise i'm lost in blog land
sitster: i don' think you work....anyway, i'm going to the mall, do you know exactly where i should park to be able to walk in the closest entrance to F21 (she was going to mall of america, the place is kinda BIG)
me: yes (proceed to tell her exactly where to park)

it's probably a conversation you had to be there for but to us it was quite silly :)
my sister is an 18 year old smarta$$, with the best heart ever!

the conversation didn't end there though. she was going to the mall to return a dress that she bought for a wedding we are attending this weekend. my cousin who is 6 years younger than me is getting married. my sis knows i no longer like going to the mall (i've attempted to put myself on a spending freeze, as much as i possibly can). she says F21 has a lot of cute dresses under $20 and insists on me getting one. her recommendation was to take pics of all the dresses she likes in the store and send them to me. um, no thank you. i had to can her idea.... i thanked her for her efforts though, she is such a sweet little sis.

my sis and i don't talk on the phone often either, we text all the time. also, at the time she called we were texting....probably why i didn't expect the call to be her ;)

SO, i don't want to buy a new dress for the wedding because i'm trying to NOT spend money. also, i have to try a dress on before buying it. i have a hard time with dresses. i don't have a large chest but it sure seems like it when i'm trying to get into a dress and my cleavage is more than i want anyone in my family to see, well anyone for that matter, ha! needless to say, i'm wearing a dress that i already own and shoes that i already own. not sure which dress or which shoes but i still have one whole day to figure that out...

is it okay to wear a black dress to a wedding??

I say any color besides white is totally ok to wear a wedding. I see black as classy rather than in mourning, and most these days do too. :) Go for it!

I'm sure the black dress is really cute considering you have great taste, so wear it and save that money!

depends on what time the wedding is. night time? yes.

Black is typically worn at a formal wedding, as long it doesn't look too somber. I usually wear black with a little bit of another color to brighten it up.

And it's good to remind yourself to stay away from temptation - if I hit up the mall, I will definitely blow the budget. Good luck!

I'm sure you can make any color look great! I think that black is very elegant and I've seen many people wearing it to weddings. It's so cool that you live so close to the Mall of America!!!! Have fun at the wedding :-)

Black is great! I'm going to have all of my bridesmaids, attendants, & groomsmen in black & of course just me in white!

I think black is fine... just don't wear white... I had someone wear white to my wedding and one of my friends "accidently" spilled red wine all over that persons dress.... they swear it was an accident.. I am not so sure... but nevertheless... she wasn't wearing white anymore...

i love that convo. how cute is that?? and i totally would...why not? i mean sometimes people wear red to funerals so i think scooby would say Black is HAWT!!

I just wore black to a wedding last weekend! There's really nothing better than black to make you feel skinny (not that you need it hun!). :)

Number 1: I have a sister who is in her teens and just looooove her...she cracks me up all the time!

Number 2: You can most definitely wear black to a wedding! I got the hottest LBD at F21 last year. I have worn it to multiple weddings and people think that I spent a fortune on it. Little do they know, it was $24.99! I love me some F21.

Soooo...do it! Wear something you own (I'm on a budget freeze as well) and spice it up with some accessories. Keep us posted on what you decide to wear!!

I agree with pretty much everyone else that you can wear black to a wedding. I do it all the time. It was sweet of your sister to offer to take pictures and pick up a dress for you, though.

And, I'm so jealous that you live near The Mall of America! I've never been.

I've worn tons of black dresses to weddings. I say go with it.
I love Forever 21 by the way!

I pretty much only wear black dresses to weddings. I think unless it's a casual Sunday morning wedding you should be fine.

mommywonderland said...

My bridesmaid dresses were black and white, so you wouldve fit right in! If its formal, go for it! If not, do it anyways cause your so stinkin' cute you can pull it off!

ConnieB said...

I don't see why not... just wear bright accessories, how cute would that be (:

Brittany Ann said...

I think it's totally fine to wear black to a wedding. I've done it, and I've been to plenty of weddings where even the bridesmaids wear black dresses.

You look gorgeous in black!

YES! Black is totally appropriate! Just not white :)
After my wedding I am on a spending freeze as well!! My cc is smoking it has been run so many times lately!!

Black all the way, that is what I wear to practically every one....bc black is my favorite "color" and I have a million black dresses in every style possible. Just NEVER wear white, tan, champagne, or ivory to a wedding bc you have no idea what color the brides dress is gonna be. Good luck on your dress selection in your closet =)

I guess you could look up proper etiquette. Also, I think your relationship with your sister is so cute! And what is up with everybody texting more than talking these days? I don't think I've sent more than 15 texts in my whole life. How you like them apples?

Katie said...

I always wear black to weddings! I think the Bride should be the only one wearing anything resembling white. Okay, well, it's also my silent protest, haha! kidding! I'm sure you are going to look beautiful no matter what you wear!

Of course, but I am going to be a bad friend and tell you F21 has PHENOMENAL dresses for $20! Just get one :)

A little black dress is a staple in any wardrobe. You can never go wrong with one!! You'll look hawt...work it girl;)

And the whole too much cleavage thing...I totally know where you are coming from. I must try dresses on because I have the oddest figure ever. Short, but I have a semi rack and these huge broad shoulders. I could be a linebacker for an NFL team...seriously.

But anyways, black dress...always a DO

Having a little sister is the best thing in the world when you are older. Younger...not so much. LOL!!! Totally sounds like a conversation I could have had with my sister. As far as the dress you'll be fine in anything as long as you don't wear white. :) XOXO

Awww siblings are always so cute. And yes, I think it's appropriate to wear black. Depends on the hour though, if it's early morning, maybe not so much.

The fact that she called you for directions and you were able to give them to such a large mall shows that you are a shop-a-holic like myself ;) Shopping partners in crime lady. Kuddos to you for putting a freeze on your spending habits.
I say wear the black dress...you can accessorize with bangles and heels of course. It's classic and sure to be stunning!!! Have fun and definitely take pics for us.

Love your new layout by the way, your doggy at the top is so cute haha.
I think wearing black to a wedding is absolutely fine. The only colour I would be a little skeptical in wearing would be full on white, as it's the same as the bride! Hope you have a fun time at the wedding=)
