ROSES & THORNS

I stole this idea from the beautiful Kristen. Love her and her blog!! I’m sure many of you know her already but if you don’t, stop over there and introduce yourself! She’s awesome!
I did my post a little different than she does…same concept though;)

* IT’S FRIDAY – nuff said!!
* Both of the attorneys I work for our out today! One of the guys I work for is out with the flu (not swine), he got a flu shot a month ago. What is the point of getting the flu shot if you are still going to get the flu anyway?!?
* I have plans Sunday to spend the entire day with one of my besties!
* I finally went to the doctor yesterday, I’m convinced there is something wrong with me.
* Someone found my blog by typing in “chocolate butt” on Google. HA!!
* My sweet fiancé came downtown to my office and took me out for lunch on Weds. This only happens once a year, it’s a haul to get downtown, you have to pay to park, then wait in line at a restaurant and pay a ridiculous price to eat….it was totally worth it though!! It was the perfect break in my work day! Love his face!
* I know I have mentioned before that I love my car and I have good reason, I drove my car an entire month on the same tank of gas! (Billy goes through more than enough gas in his SUV for the both of us though)
* Billy doesn’t have hockey tonight or tomorrow night, quality time for us!!
* I got to enjoy a wonderful dinner at Chilis with a great friend this week as well. Best chips and salsa ever!!

* Even though the two attorneys I work for are out, I have a TON of work to do today!
* Due to all the work I am totally behind on your blogs. I’ll be stalking anc commenting you all throughout the weekend to catch up on your lives!! Promise :)
* I ate like crap the entire week, so much for being healthy and working out.
* Getting weighed at the doctor’s office :( I’ve gained 6 pounds since I stopped working out 2 months ago! UGH!!! I am going to start hitting the gym again very soon, I have to!
* I gave in to diet mt. dew and splenda in my coffee.
* Due to the splenda I’ve had major headaches all week.
* The commute to work seems to just keep getting longer. I get on my bus around 7:10 and I don’t get to my desk until 8:30. I count part of the commute as my working hours. Hopefully when the highway goes from 3 lanes to 5 lanes things will be much smoother and quicker.
* My Dad was supposed to get to go back to work last week after being laid off for around 8 months. Thankfully my Mom has a great job and my Dad has had unemployment the entire time, my Dad wants and needs to get back to work though. Please pray that he gets a call this weekend letting him know there is a position open and he can go back!

I didn’t know if I wanted to list this as a rose or thorn so this little story gets its own section. After the doctor last night I didn’t feel like cooking. Billy had hockey until 8:30 so I decided to grab some lime beers and another gourmet meal of fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy. I went through the drive through and the girl at the pay window asked me what high school I go to. I told her that I was 26, not in high school. She looked like she didn’t believe me. I go to the next window to pick up the food and the guy working says, she thinks you go to her high school. I told him the same thing, no I’m 26. He goes yeah I figured you had to at least be 21 with that pack of beer sitting on the floor right there. I forgot that I had sat the beer on the passenger side of my car on the floor. Not that it matters but if I was in high school and 16/17 years old I doubt I would have beer noticeably sitting in my car. Anywho, I don't think I look that young but I'll take looking the age of a high schooler as a compliment ;) hehe....

Overall, I had a great week!! Hope you all did too!!

Have a great weekend! XO

What a great story! I love when people think I'm younger...until they think I'm my 20 year old brother's girlfriend - it was worse when they thought that when he was actually IN HIGH SCHOOL! I think your dinner sounds wonderful. Also, I suggest getting a Jillian Michaels video (they are like $10 w/ shipping on Amazon) if you want to tone up and slim down :) I think you look great doll!

Love this list! :) And that is definitely a compliment you got from the girl...even though the beer would have been obvious but yeah, it's definitely a compliment!!! :)
My thoughts are with your dad girl! Sorry to hear that. :(

Have a great weekend though.

I get asked ALL the time how old I am and what high school I go to. It's a compliment, but I always seem to get asked that question when I'm holding a glass of wine! Too funny!

I HOPE that happens to me. Ppl always think that I am my little sisters YOUNGER sis...I luv it :)

How did you know someone found it by googling?! I'm so technologically dumb, it's ridiculous and surprising that I have even figured out how to have a blog!! :) Anyway-love the roses and thorns & hope you get your work done quickly, it's never fun!

Unknown said...

Love your lists! And lunch with your man is the best! :) and anytime you get mistaken for a teenager it is a good thing ;) I for one can never tell how old anyone is especially from 18- 40 ish ages. Older people are looking younger and younger people are looking older. So confusing!

I haven't eaten the best this week either! ugghhh! It's so hard sometimes! Oh and my Dad got his position at his job that he had been at for over 20 years eliminated last year right before Christmas. It was really upsetting to all of us. He had a non-compete contract so couldn't stay in the same town to work. So he ended up taking a job 15 hours away in TX. My Mom is still here in TN with her job (she works at a law office too.) She has been trying to find a job there for months now and has had no luck. She doesn't think she should quit the job she has now until she can find one there. It's a really hard time for so many people, but at the same time I try to think how things could always be so much worse!

I will deff. say a prayer for you Dad & hope he finds something very soon!!! !! Have a great weekend!!

someday looking like a high schooler will definitely be an advantage!

haha! Love the beer story.. and heck yeah, I'd take the high school thing as a compliment! You go, girlie! I get thrilled when someone even asks for my ID.. lol!

saying a prayer for your dad to return to work soon... This economy is for the birds.. :( Our United Way campaign has taught me so much.. I've seen my friends struggling and their parents struggling, but I dont think it hit home til I saw SO MANY PEOPLE out of work-the layoffs my companies alone have done.. wow.. (the companies I'm working with that is..). *sigh*

The fact that someone found your blog by typing 'chocolate butt' is probably my favorite thing I've read all day.. haha.. Nice.

Have a great weekend!!!

Wow I wonder what they were looking for when they googled chocolate butt???? :) :)

People always think I'm way younger than I am too. I try to take it as a compliment even when I'm the one being id'd and all my friends are being let right in the bar! Pretty annoying but I guess it's better than looking old!!!

Ashley said...

Awww, being mistaken as an high school student IS A COMPLIMENT!! I am 26 as well, and someone at my gym asked if I went to the local high school. I WAS SOOO HAPPY I did not dispute it! My mom was with me and laughed out loud before I could respond and said "SHE IS my baby and she has graduated college and is married"
I LOVE To get ID'd too.
Way to go girl! Have a fun weekend!
