excuses, excuses, excuses....

i make excuses every.single.day on why i can't go to the gym.
i sit at work and i am totally motivated to go to the gym.
by the time i get home all ambitions are gone.
i have not one good excuse.
the gym i work out at is within walking distance from our home.
only 2-3 blocks away.
i still can't drag my lazy bum over there.

yesterday i didn't go because billy had hockey.
i wanted to be home with our pup.
i sat on the couch all night and read blogs!
me = sluggish

today it's raining and gloomy outside.
that automatically makes me want to sit around and do nothing tonight.
again, me = slacker

i know exactly how tonight will go....
i'll get home from work, chat with the stay-at-home daddy...
i'll throw in a load of laundry....
make spaghetti n meatballs for din...
then plop down on the couch for the night...
GLEE the best show ever is on!
i might read a blog or two as well ;)

i hope some day to get my motivation back.
i used to love the gym, that was just a few short months ago.
i miss running, lifting weights, doing my workout dvd's.
i just have no desire to get up and go anymore.

i think i need to challenge myself but doing it alone is not easy.
billy gets workouts in by skating for hours.
he doesn't care what he eats either.
he'll go to BK and grab a whopper jr before going to the rink.
he also doesn't mind eating dinner at midnight.
if i'm going to do this it will be all on me.

my eating habits are shot right now and i need to turn those around asap!
i realized i ate out 3 times over the weekend, that is NOT good!
you would think that being a bride in 5 months would be all the motivation i need...
ha! not.so.much

okay, enough complaining from me...
maybe ya'll can help me out ;)
what motivates you?
what songs are you listening to while at the gym these days?

p.s. if you are not on the GLEE train, you need to be...so hop on!

It happens, hopefully your motivation will come back. I went through a slump over the winter where it was too cold to go to the gym! The sofa with my puppies, tv shows, hot chocolate & my snuggie were a much better choice!
Once you get going and your body remembers how good a workout feels it will be much easier to keep it up!

can't wait for Glee tonight!!!!

any good motiviation songs (to me) are dancy! i like ke$sh's "blah blah blah" and that other one... also "patron tequila" by paradiso girls is good.

i too sit at work and i am totally motivated to go to the gym but by the time i get home all ambitions are gone! hate that!!

I have a hard time with motivation as well. I cannot do it alone. If it wasn't for my husband dragging my ass to the gym, I don't think I would ever go!

But once I get into the swing of things, it gets easier to go without him. I just need him to help me establish a routine first.

Good luck!

GIRL! I am right there with you! I have a gym membership and I've maybe gone 5 times in the last year and a half. When I think about it, I get all pumped and motivated and then when I actually start to think about getting up and going, I don't. So frustrating. I think having someone as an accountability partner helps a ton! I don't have that right now but I need one! Good luck to you and YAY FOR GLEE!!! :)

I'm so excited for GLEE tonight! However it's on at the same time as LOST which I'm also obsessed with. Thank God for DVR!

I feel you - the weather always impacts my desire to go to the gym. I think that having people to text and encourage one another to go workout, eat right, etc. helps me a lot!

I could have written this exact same post. Maybe us blogger gals can motivate each other!! I know that once I get my butt up and do it for a few weeks it will become habit again.

Lauren @ Dreams Take Flight said...

I'm totally in the same boat...at the end of the day, the LAST thing I want to do is work out! I want to sit on my butt! I might start trying to get up and work out in the morning...but I'm not sure how successful that will be!

Erica @ All About Aleigha said...

I'm lacking motivation also. I wish I had someone to workout with, I think that would help alot. I'm using our family pictures in less than a month to motivate me for now. Maybe we can motivate each other, via blogs :) Hope you have a great day.

oh man....i feel ya lady! i've been trying to get my bum back to the gym but its so hard with life getting in the way!!! but i'm here to cheer you on!!! :)

I know how you feel about getting motivated. I *made* myself start working out about 3 weeks ago and have been pretty good about sticking to it :) I can't wait for Glee tonight either!!

i am the same way. we need to join together and push each other to achieve our goals!

I can totally relate! I have been so unmotivated recently :( I get this guilty feeling when I pass by the gym, like I am sneaking out or something! One thing that I do love is Pilates! I will NEVER miss my Wednesday class, no matter what! I also love hiking and going on walks. Ive decided to take an extra Pilates class, buy some DVD's and get outside more. Plus getting a partner in crime helps too! Good luck :) Maybe you can get my butt motivated more too!!!

girl, I JUST got out of that rut! Two weeks ago someones blog said that you have to look at the gym as a job and make time for it. I go right when I'm done work for the day! If I go home first it will ruin it! Plus my weight started to go up and its easy for me to get depressed about. I also just try to remember and think about how good it feels when you are done! I feel so much better when I really have worked out a good amount during the week!

Good luck!

I had to give myself a goal. So I committed to running a 5K in June and that is what I am training for. I just won't do it any other way. I put my iPod on shuffle and just keep hitting next until I hear a good song. I love 80's music when I work out haha! Like Heart, Bon Jovi, Skid Row....all that:)

I feel your pain! Getting motivated is SO HARD!

Lived With Love said...

sounds like you need to switch things up a bit! why not try a home workout DVD, i use them , so much nicer in your own home and you can do as much as you want, even 20 mins is better than nothing and you dont have to go anywhere!

Getting motivated is hard, and boooooo i've never seen glee yet, so i cant be excited.

I very much feel the same way... I have no way to motivate you, but I can give you company :)

I am seriously the laziest person on the planet... and I was going to take S's lead and REALLY start working out hard while he was home but guess who has done NOTHING AT ALL?!?!?!? Um yah, that would be ME! Ugh. I have to get my ass in gear I tell you!!

I have no clue how to get motivated but I am right there with you... super good help aren't I?! lol

Don't even feel bad that you don't have the motivation to go the 2-3 blocks to the gym. It happens to all of us! I work at a gym and don't even have the motivation to work out! HAHA! I of course don't have the time with work and school...but is that really an excuse when I can find time to sit and snuggle with my puppy?!?! OOPS! You'll get back into it...just set some goals for yourself and make small steps at a time.

oh, girl, i feel you. i am so not motivated with everything else i have to do...the gym is at the bottom of my list. and the shred? forget it.

we can do it though! positive thoughts :)

I know what you mean. I have those same days too. Lately my motivation has been hawaii. If it wasn't in 2 months i really don't know if i'd be running so much.

Well good luck. It'll come back to you. But for now, its all about one thing...GLEE!!!

Unknown said...

Have you thought about getting a work-out friend? I know i wouldn't be able to go to the gym by myself. Or perhaps doing an at-home workout dvd? Just some ideas.

You can do it lady!!! Motivation is key.

Motivation is what I need these days. Truly. Not just when I want to work out. So even while cleaning the kitchen or/and bathroom I need something to go with that makes me wanna do more and go on for hours and hours and hours... ;) and yes, even for blogging these days I need motivation...big time. Then again, it's not my computer so I'm just thankful for whatever time I get to go online. :D

Kristin said...

I think you should have your motivation call my motivation so that they can convince each other to come back! :)

Gwen said...

Girl I've been so bad lately and then last week not being able to work out made me feel fluffy. I decided to get back on track this week and I'm watching what I eat very carefully.

A small bit of advice. Take your gym clothes with you and go straight to the gym instead of home. My motto is...You'll never regret doing the workout but you will regret not doing it. :)

XOXO

My husband does triathalons so I know what you mean....if it's 11 at night at he grabs for the Doritos I think I should partake too...not the case!!! I didn't bike 30 miles and run a 5k like he did haha. Nutrition wise I write down everything last thing that I eat or drink. I count calories like a mad woman. Try that for a few weeks and you'll see that you're getting random calories at random times and it really makes you think about what you're eating if you know you've got to go write it down. Have your man hold you accountable. :) Good luck ...but just so you know...I think you look GREAT as you are :)

Oh, girl! I hear ya. I seriously have to make myself go to the gym, but then I feel so much better. I have to have my iPod ready...it's mostly all hip hop. I have to have a beat to workout to :) And I LOVE Glee!!

Sierra said...

Okay little pep talk here: so the only way I am motivated is A. I can only work out in the mornings (nights DO NOT work for me so I totally understand.) and B. you have to make up your mind to do it! I know it sucks and it isn't so much fun, but you feel better after, right? I do and I feel so gross when I am eating out (do that a lot lol) and then have not worked out in a while! Another thing is, I gain weight super super easy so for me running has just become normal because without it I seem to gain, which is not fair. I hate that. But anyways, if you need motivating let me know - I can send some texts or whatever you need your way. I heart you and you can do this Annie. Lol I need to be a fitness coach. I get unmotivated too sometimes, it's hard to get the energy going!

Anonymous said...

I just know that I feel better and look better in my clothes when I do. And when that hasn't worked recently my doctor told me to keep active to help with getting pregnant. So that was all the motivation that I needed! :)

Annie said...

Ok...I need to go through and read all of these comments too...i have SO fallen off the wagon! I used to be so good..and feel so good. I think that it is all a habit. When you are working out good you feel good...and then when you stop, it is just too easy to be a lazy bum :(. I think that warmer weather and bathing suit season will help me!!

Perfectly Imperfect said...

I also can talk myself out of going to the gym better than anyone I know. It's sad really. I take clothes to work and I pass the gym on my way home, but still skip it. Slacker.

I think I need to see what this Glee hype is all about...

Julianne Hendrickson said...

ummm our gym is ACROSS THE STREET! I can throw a rock at the parking lot!! I do not go enough...not nearly enough! I am far worse than you, you can sleep easy :)

Crazy Shenanigans-JMO said...

I know it's going to sound awful but what motivates me is seeing pictures of my skinny self. You know what I mean? We all have those photos from where we were a few pounds lighter. Plus good music helps me get into the groove!

Carrie said...

I need to watch Glee...from what I've seen, I'd like it :) Instead...I grab a box of crackers, Chex Mix or a cookie and watch The Biggest Loser, Ha! Is that motivation for ya! ;) I told myself that once the weather was nice, which it is now...I would start walking while the kids are at school. I've accomplished this once...but I need to try harder too. You're young and beautiful...you shouldn't be worrying about that right now! Looks like you're doing something right :) Take care and enjoy these lazy days while you can :)

nikki said...

Try going to the gym before heading home! That's what I do.. If I go home and see my couch or bed there is no way I am emerging for the gym :) My workouts seem to be a little more efficient too.. no time wasting! Good luck! :)

It is so hard to stay motivated girl!!! I feel your pain...I try to walk 2 miles at least 4-5 days a week. And somedays are really rough. I try to think, "Lori, do you want your thighs to shrink?" Then that makes me want to run the 2 miles!! LOL!!

im in the same boat!!..and my thighs speak gor it. arg

This has been me for the last year! Actually, over a year. It's been pretty pathetic and I ended up gaining so much weight in the process. This time last year I wanted to try and start working out so that I could lose weight for when we got married. Did it happen? Nope. It's been a long road but I FINALLY have found the motivation again. We have our anniversary party in 2 1/2 months and I want to look good dammit. So to the gym I go. Best motivation for me is having a friend to go with. My girl Lauren and I go together four times a week and having someone to go with keeps me accountable like nothing ever has before! Good luck finding your motivation hun- I have a feeling you'll find it a lot sooner than you think!

undomestic mama said...

I found out that I need to work out in the morning or the same thing happens to me - I will be motivated until I get off work. I'm sure you'll get your motivatiuon back soon. Good luck!

Girl, dont' be so hard on yourself. I have heard so much about Glee, need to give it a watch!! :)

Megan Ashley said...

Annie, THanks!!!! We had a lot of fun with the photo shoot! Also I am in Ham lake MN, so a little bit on the opposite end from you :) Good luck with the motivation, I have hardly any lately either :( I am always so drained by the end of work, and I no longer get out of bed at 5:30am, so working out is not on my priority list for now!

Ashley said...

I go in and out with motivation. Luckily, I have been doing well with the gym the past few weeks...just not so well with food. My motivation is when my clothes dont fit...I need to pick up the pace! :) If I went home after work, I would NEVER go back out to the gym.
The songs I currently love running to are:
Boom boom pow- Black eye peas (really gets me fist pumping! :))
Maneater, Diva (Beyoncee), New Kids on the Block (dont laugh), Lady gaga, Madonna (80's stuff)Tik tok...
GOOD LUCK! YOu can do it! :)

I feel your pain! I get in the worst cycles where I want to do anything BUT go to the gym. One of the things that has helped me out the best is to tell myself ahead of time that "Monday and Thursday I have to run - either outside or at the gym, but I have to just DO IT" and then no matter how I feel on those days I tell myself to ignore it and just focus on following through with my set goal. I know I will feel good after my goal has been accomplished, and at the end of the week I will feel extra good when all my running/workout goals were accomplished. I start to then focus on the after feeling instead of the drag of the before feeling. Good luck, girl! No matter what, though, you will be a gorgeous bride! SO EXCITED FOR GLEE! I have it on my DVR. :o) HUGS!

ConnieB said...

Girl I know what you mean! I'm the same way - with excuses- and now eating out! It's a vicious cycle. And when I got married, I think I actually gained weight before!

Girl you crack me up. I know what you mean though about the gym, I have been trying to get myself motivated for six months now and still haven't gone once. That's just freaking fabulous, now its almost bathing suit time and I still have baby belly.

I didn't watch Glee yet, is it Tuesday night or Wednesday? I dvr'd it either way. I'm so excited to see it.

I am beating myself up right now because I need to lose some more weight! This beautiful weather is motivating me right now! Great blog! Hope you don't mind another follower!

Can you believe I missed Glee??? After I said I was going to watch....Sometimes not going to the gym is a good thing. The whole tricking your muscles thing, right? ;)

Marian said...

Seriously, Glee is the best thing EVER!!!!

And my recommendation is to try doing a work out in the morning. I used to be one who would get home and work out, but once I got home I just couldn't do it. And even though its tough to get up early, once I do it, I have energy and I basically have gotten it over with for the day:)

Working Mommy said...

I am with you and your lack of motivation for the gym...the man has been on my bum to get a bike so we can ride together and I finally got one on Sunday. I like my new toy...but don't know how often I'm going to ride...we'll see.

I'm the same way! Once I get home, I have no desire to go to the gym. So...I joined a gym close to my work and try to workout during my lunch hour 3-4 times a week. It's really helped!
