I'm wondering what your secrets are.
Your secrets for potty training that is.
How does that sound to all you non-potty training people? ha!
I have not started potty training Cullen and actually do not plan to until the Fall.
We have waited and waited for Summer to arrive.
It's been cold, rainy, snowy, just plain gross here pretty much the past 7/8 months.
We are going to be spending the next 3 months outside.
That is if it warms up.
The rain and clouds have been here the past 5 days and will be here the rest of the week.
As soon as it's sunny and warm the last thing from my mind will be the stress on Cullen and I of potty training.
We are going to enjoy SUMMER to the fullest of our ability!!
We will be living at the pool and outside any and every day that we can.
That doesn't mean I'm not trying to plan ahead.
I would love to know any tips and tricks that any of you have to offer.
What worked for you?
I know nothing about potty training.
I received two big boxes from Earth's Best last week!
One was full of wipes.
One was full of wipes.
One was full of training pants/diapers! EEEK!!
At least we are stocked up!
These pics got the best of me, on my computer they show up facing correctly and on blogger they don't. I gave up. I'm sure you can tell that I received at least one months supply of wipes and training diapers!!
Here is a little bit of info from Earth's Best for you...
Did you know that a newborn urinates as many as 20 times a day?
A newborn’s diaper will need to be changed every 2-3 hours for the first few months?
The average baby will need at least 5,000 diapers changes before she is potty trained?

I know I have a girl so it's different butttt here's how it went for us anyway haha. I waited until she was 2yr 10mo an definitely ready, any time before that she was tearful or scared about it. Pull ups clearly confused her because there aren't really any consequences when they have an accident so for us it was easier to do all or nothing and take her straight from diapers into big girl underwear that way she really knew when she had an accident it was a bad thing! I asked every hour on the hour for about three days if she needed to go and I put her in pull ups for naptime and bedtime. Every time she went potty we high fived, put stickrs on her dress and told her that soon she would get a present (total bribery!) After 3 days we were done and she was trained and naptimes she is trained now too : ) Bedtime still involves pull ups but sometimes she wakes up dry and I have put a potty in her room so she can get up and pee if she needs to. GOOD LUCK!!
Surprisingly, my son did well with potty training! We waited until he was about 2 1/2+ years old. He saw other kids pottying at daycare and I think that started the initial interest. Originally we bought him a small potty that we used mainly to encourage sitting on the potty. The weekend I decided to potty train, we used underwear immediately and went to the potty every 15-20 minutes. It was a long first day and there were several accidents even going to the potty that often. I made a potty chart and we put stickers on it every time he went to the potty. I also bought a small pack of animals (he loves animals!) and he could pick out one each time he pottied for that first weekend. After that he had a few accidents, but he really caught on quickly and daycare stayed on top of it as well. Also, that first weekend, I never got upset with him or sounded frustrated to him when he had an accident. Inside I am sure I was, but I tried to stay positive. Good luck!
We haven't started training yet either....AC will be 2 1/2 soon and we r thinking of getting him started before I go back to work this fall. I have heard the cold turkey "big boy" undies are the best start. So we will start there but thanks for the post I love getting advice from others! Have a fun summer...if it ever gets here haha!
I'm not planning to start until he's 2+, in part because that's when he moves to the next room in daycare where they also work with the kids on potty training. So no point in training him now. Plus I'm scared of it. haha
Both of my older boys trained differently my oldest was trained at 2 and my 2nd wasn't trained until he was close to 3. My oldest just all of a sudden didn't want a diaper anymore and he was easy peasy. My 2nd wanted nothing to do with it at all!!! We tried everything then finally one weekend he woke up and I told him that the diaper/pull up fairy came and took all of his and took them back to the store for another little boy who needed them, and he had to wear big boy underwear like his brother and daddy. He said okay and after 2-3 accidents he was good to go.
It's really trial and error and whatever works best for your little one.
My, I was about to ask the question from you. Just kidding! But anyway, we haven’t trained our little dictator who is also a 2 year old to use a potty. I think it’s not time yet coz’ he’s not ready yet. But I really wish we won’t have a hard time teaching him how. Thanks for all the tips from everyone. I learned a lot!
